   Ceftriaxone

Typhoid fever is a life threating infection    Typhoid fever can be treated with antibiotics but increasing resistance to different types of antibiotics is making treatment more complicated.

MMIDSP

Medical Microbiology & Infection Diseases Society Of Pakistan recommends the use of Ceftriaxone ( TITAN) as empiric treatment and in MDR Typhoid 3

Dosage: IV Ceftriaxone 1gm q12hr or 2gm q24hr for 14 days

History

Onset sudden in perforated d uodenal ulcer & acute intestinal ishaemia while gradual in appendicitis.

Nature

Colicky in intestinal obstruction biliary colic & renal colic & renal colic whereas continuous pain in peritonitis

1: Mode of spread

Intravenous route: Transfusion of infected blood or blood products. Contaminated needles used by drug addicts tattooists or acupuncturists.

Direct droplet spread:It mean form person to person by inhalation of air-borne bacilli that have been coughed or sneezed into the atmosphere
